Baby Guin - Month 5

January 29th

4 months down!! This is going to be one of the best months because it's gender reveal month!! We're counting down the days until we get to see our little baby's face and cute little arms and legs. I tend to stress some before each doctor's appointment, hoping that everything is ok, so having an ultrasound and being able to see our sweet little peanut will be so nice!

I'm still having some of those days where I just feel fat instead of pregnant, telling Josh I've had "food babies" as big as my bump is now. But then other days I feel like my bump is ginormous and I'm a little nervous to see just how big it'll get by July!

Baby is now about the size of a sweet potato, measuring about 5 1/2 inches and around 7 ounces. Baby's nerves are becoming more fine-tuned and working faster, helping Baby to kick and move around in there. I *think* I may have felt some kicks the other night, but I'm not positive. I'm sure as the weeks go along here, I'll be able to tell more.

It's been a pretty good week for me. I'm still eating a ton, and sleeping even more, but honestly that's not too different than what I did before I got pregnant, haha! All of my clothing choices as of late revolve around comfort, and so I'm pretty sure I haven't worn anything but leggings for the past month straight. So far my own long sleeve shirts/sweaters have been fitting just fine, but if anyone has any spring/summer maternity clothes they want to send my way, I won't be opposed ;)

See you next week!

February 5th

Happy 19 weeks! The temperature climbed to over 40 degrees this weekend, and it felt so good! I love snow and winter, but I'm definitely ready to have the snow gone. We are so close to finding out the gender of this sweet little baby, we can hardly wait another week!

Since Baby is almost halfway here, it seems a little funny to me that Baby is currently half a foot long, and weighs half a pound (~8 ounces) this week! About the size of a mango or zucchini, Baby is definitely making my belly more prominent this week, it seems, and so I got some funny looks while at Pizza Pie Cafe the other night, haha! No strangers have dared to ask if I'm pregnant, though. Baby's arms and legs are now in proportion to his/her body, and his/her skin is starting be covered in a substance called vernix to help keep the skin moisturized and not wrinkly.

I finally caved and ordered some maternity scrub pants because with my belly carrying a little lower, there really isn't a comfortable way to wear my current ones. My appetite is also picking up again, and so I've gotten into this routine of every couple of hours needing to eat and pee, haha!

So overall, a fairly uneventful week! We can't wait for Valentine's Day to get here for one of the best gifts we could ask for: seeing our sweet little baby again!

February 14th

Happy Valentine's Day! Yes, I realized I posted 2 pictures and the reason is that Baby's due date has been changed! We had our big anatomy ultrasound done today, and Baby is measuring at 21 weeks instead of 20 weeks like we thought, so the new due date is June 27th!

Also, in case you missed my Facebook post, it's a BOY!!!! I've told people otherwise, but I've just known it was a boy for quite some time. I didn't tell anyone but Josh that because I didn't want there to be any sense of disappointment if it was a girl. But I just had that mommy-sense that this little munchkin was a boy and so it was no surprise when the ultrasound confirmed what I had been feeling and Josh had been wishing for.

The ultrasound was so cool to watch! Besides this little boy's cute profile, we got to see his heart, brain, umbilical cord, arms and legs. Baby kept moving his head around while the ultrasound tech was trying to measure his head, and he had his arm blocking his face, so it was hard to get a good look at his cute lips and nose.

I've definitely started consistently feeling his little kicks, and Josh is so excited to be able to feel them himself hopefully soon! Little Boy is about 10.5 inches long (the size of a carrot/banana), and weighs about 12.5 ounces. The ultrasound measurements show that he's in the 42 percentile for growth!

Look how cute he is!! :) We love this little boy so much already and we can't wait for June to get here!!

February 23rd

Happy 22 weeks (and 2 days)! Please excuse my tired, sickly appearance, but I've been fighting a pretty nasty cold the past few days. I'm starting to feel a little better today, but not completely better yet. This little guy has been kicking up a storm this week, and he loves to jump on my bladder and cervix. Josh was finally able to feel those kicks for the first time near the beginning of this week! He was so excited and since then has been talking to Baby Boy more and more :) It just melts my heart!

Baby Boy is now about 11 inches long (about the size of a spaghetti squash or coconut), and weighs about 1 pound! His eyebrows and eyelashes are starting to grow in, and if he's going to have any hair (which we doubt, since Josh and I were both pretty bald babies), that's growing in too. When Baby Boy isn't bouncing around, he actually spends about 12-14 hours a day sleeping.

Reflux has hit me pretty hard this week, but I'm also hungry all the time it seems, so it's been a challenging battle between the two. Also, at church this last weekend, I started to experience some lightheaded, almost claustrophobic feelings, though I'm not sure if it was actually claustrophobia, or if it was caused by Baby cutting off my circulation as I was sitting more straight up and down for a longer period. Either way, I ended up getting up and sitting out in the foyer in an armchair and felt much better after that.

But it's so crazy that by next Tuesday we will be at 5 months pregnant!
