Baby Guin - Month 8

May 2nd
Baby Boy continues to get more crazy with his movements, and once again, was extra crazy during church on Sunday. Hopefully this behavior won't continue after he's born, haha! With his decreasing amount of space, he especially hates it when he gets squished at all. He's now around 19 inches long (the size of a jicama, whatever that is. *Update, Josh looked it up. Turns out it's a root that is edible and is quite versatile is how it can be used....Who knew??*) and weighs around 3.75 pounds!
Despite being tired quicker, I've been trying to be good at getting outside and going on walks around Porter Park with Link to get some mild exercise in. And it's felt so nice, especially with the weather finally getting nicer. My nesting continues onward, and I got all of Baby Boy's clothes and such washed, and I've started putting some things for him in our new diaper bag. I'm trying to not do everything at once since we still have 8 weeks to go, but I just want to do it all now!

Happy 33 weeks! This last week seemed to fly by since I've been busy with work, but I don't mind a bit because that means we're that much closer to having this boy in our arms!
Baby Boy continues to be a very active little bugger, and he still loves to push with all his might against my ribs. His kicks and jabs are getting more uncomfortable too, since the amniotic fluid reaches its limit at this point. Yesterday, he was especially active, and I could've sworn I could feel his heel when I was trying to push him back from my ribs, haha! At this point of pregnancy, it's hard to know exactly how long Baby Boy is, but he's probably around the size of a pineapple or a ferret, and he weighs around 4.25 pounds! His bones are getting harder, but the bones in his skull won't fuse together completely until after birth so that the bones can overlap and help get his big head out easier during birth :)
As for this pregnant lady, sleep is still getting harder and harder to come by. But I did find our darkening curtains that we had at our first apartment a year and a half ago, so I pinned them up in our bedroom, and that seems to have helped a little - or at least it helps Josh sleep more, haha! He's usually a pretty early riser so it's been odd for me to be the one to get up early and him sleep until 10am, haha! But I've been taking more naps again to try and catch up on sleep, and it hasn't messed up my sleeping patterns too much like they have in the past. Also, I have also reached the stage where I have to pee all. the. time. It's seriously like clock work - at least every 2 hours when I'm awake, and about double that at night. More frequently if Little Man is being especially active. I've also noticed that my walking has changed. Not the waddle yet, but my center of gravity has shifted so I have that over arched back look going on.
We also finally have all of the big essentials that we need for Little Boy since the car seat was finally delivered today! It came while I was napping before work tonight, and so Josh was wise/nice enough to get it out of the box and figure out how to connect it to our stroller while I ate dinner (he knew if he didn't do it, I would've not eaten dinner in time to leave for work, haha!). The nesting crazy pregnant lady part of me was very happy to see that get here, because now I feel like Baby Boy could come and we'd have everything we need. Sure there are a couple of smaller things we still need, but I feel good about what we do have.

Now about the size of a savor cabbage, Baby Boy is still as active and pushy as ever. He weighs almost 5 pounds, and keeps putting on more fat to keep him warm and chubby when he's born. He's also using that amniotic fluid around him to help mature his lungs and practice swallowing, and so he's now peeing around 1 pint a day.
As for me, I've been working a lot this last week, and have had several chaotic shifts, and so I'm tired and ready for the next 6 days that I get to enjoy at home. Those crazy shifts have definitely made me more excited for when I get to have about 3 months off for maternity leave :) Besides the usual pregnancy complaints, right hip has started giving me grief, and Monday I woke up during my sleep in between work shifts to pee, and I could barely walk because my right leg and hip hurt so much. I ended up going to the chiropractor, and so even though I lost a couple hours of sleep, the pain dropped significantly, and it's only bothered me a couple of times since.
Josh and I also went to a childbirth class at EIRMC on Friday and Saturday. Even though we are both working in the medical field, we wanted to go to one to ease some concerns we had, and also give Josh a better idea of where Labor and Delivery/Women's Center is at the hospital. We're both still a little nervous about the whole labor process, but we also feel a little more at ease having gone to the class and reviewing all that information. I'm hoping to go with a natural birth, but we're very aware that things don't always go according to plan in labor, and so in the end, our ultimate goal is a healthy baby and a healthy Alaura :)
Also, a very happy 27th birthday today to the best father-to-be! I did my best to spoil Josh by taking him to see the new Guardians of the Galaxy movie, going mini-golfing, and then dinner at the Hickory. I can't wait to watch him be the incredible dad I know he'll be!

Happy 35 weeks! This past week has been so relaxing since I've had six days off of work, and I've been quite the lazy bum. But alas, I have to go back tonight :( I'm just hoping it's not as crazy as the last few shifts I worked last week. My pregnant body can't handle that much commotion with no "lunch" break like it used to.
Baby Boy is still doing great, though sometimes it feels like he's trying to break out of his "prison" with how hard he pushes on me. He also has been having a lot of hiccups lately, and after a little bit of them, he gets mad and starts moving around like crazy, haha! He's now about the size of a honeydew melon or a rabbit, and weighs about 5.25 pounds!
As for me, I'm doing pretty good, though the uncomfortableness of the third trimester has definitely come to stay. My hips often ache when I wake up in the morning from lying on my sides all night, and getting out of bed is becoming more and more of a challenge. Also, this week at church was another rough day. I barely made it 15 minutes into church before I started to feel light headed and nauseous from sitting up much straighter than I do at home, and the weight of Baby Boy was cutting off the circulation to my upper body. Josh and I ended up out in the hallways walking around to see if that would help, but it just got worse, so after about an hour, we gave up, and I took a two and a half hour nap in our recliner. I felt a lot better afterwards, but hopefully this won't be a problem the rest of these last few weeks because I hate missing church.
So excited for this little boy to get here!! :)
