Being 23

I've heard a few people say that 23 is just a weird age to be and nothing terribly exciting happens during that year, but for me, 23 was one of the best years ever!

To start it off, I started my first job as a full-time nurse at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center (or EIRMC for short) on the Medical/Oncology floor. I was so excited for this opportunity, but terrified at the same time. I wanted to be a good nurse and to be able to help people. And I hope I have. This job has pushed me to my limits in so many ways, but it has also given me the opportunity to serve people every minute I'm at work. Sometimes it's hard to remember that when the call lights are ringing, you're late giving someone their medication, doctors are calling, family is frustrated at something you have no control over, someone needs help getting up to the bathroom and you haven't been able to chart anything from the past 5 hours of your shift. But this job is worth it all too because I also get to comfort and encourage others in their time of need. I'm excited to see where all nursing will take me in the future.

This last year was also amazing because I was able to be married to the most amazing guy ever :) Marriage isn't easy, but it's absolutely worth it. It's helped me to be more patient, more forgiving, more organized, more willing to compromise, and to put someone else's needs above my own. And I wouldn't trade it for anything. Josh and I aren't perfect, but we're perfect for each other and help each other to be our best selves. I love him more and more every day and am so blessed to be married to him time and all eternity!
I also gained a wonderful new family that I love and have been blown away at their love and caring for me in the short time that I've known them. Even though most of them live far away, they are the best in-laws I could ask for :)

We also got to explore New York City for a couple of days and it was amazing! I've always wanted to go there and see all the sites that I've only heard about or seen in movies and being there was an incredible experience! Skyscraper after skyscraper lined up for miles with people constantly moving around it all. Taxis and subways and bicycles everywhere. We got to see Times Square, Ground Zero, the Statue of Liberty, Central Park, the Metropolitan museum, the Empire State building, the Manhattan temple, Ellis Island, the Rockefeller Center, Wicked on Broadway, the New York Library and there was still so much that we weren't able to see! New York has this rhythm that draws so many people there and it's fascinating. I can't wait to go back again some day and see even more!

So many other wonderful things have happened this year, and I'm so grateful for all of it and for everyone who's been a part of this year! I have been blessed in so many ways and I can't wait to see what new adventures being 24 brings! :)
